The "Day of Style" Update
What would you do if you won a $750 shopping spree, 2 hours with a stylist, a pedicure and a make-up consultation? Our lucky “Day of Style” competition winner, Bel, shares her experience with us this week!
We were so thrilled to receive this email from Bel, telling us all about her “Day of Style”, shared with her best friend Angela, last Saturday at Robina Town Centre in sunny Queensland.
“Thank you for organising a wonderful day for Angela and me. Kathryn (Edmonds, the Robina Stylist) was great. The real fun began as Kathryn took us into shops we hadn't been in for years to look for hidden gems. We learnt the importance of not disregarding a shop because of it may be marketed to other generations, for there may be some great accessories and shoes we are overlooking.
I was amazed at how much clothing I could try on in 2 hours and loved how Kathryn quickly worked out what our style was and our limits. By the end of the 2 hour styling experience we had several bags in hand and plans to go back to a couple of shops but first, the pedicures. With our feet pampered and ready for round two we made our way to the Birkenstock shop to compliment the bright colours of our toe nails with the neutral colours of a classic pair of Birkenstocks.
The make up lesson at Napoleon Perdis was great and I can now confidently wear make up, something I've been planning on learning for years now.
So thank you again!”
What a gorgeous thank-you note! Although we wish everyone could have won this amazing competition, Bel was such a deserving winner. As a new mum with a 7 month old baby, Bel hadn’t had much time out since the baby was born. So the “Day of Style” was a great way for Bel to enjoy some ‘me time’, update her wardrobe and spend time with a friend!
Our thanks go to the very talented Kathryn Edmonds, who provided the styling session at Robina Town Centre. Kathryn is an experienced fashion stylist, as well as the Creative Director and Owner of her own fashion label, Indigo Joker. With her keen eye for detail, creative flair and vast knowledge in this field, she brings a fresh and modern approach to her clients. Get your 'Bargain Hunter' badge!
This week we are giving out "Bargain Hunter" badges on the site! We are keen to hear from you about your bargain buys, your tips about where to shop, your ideas about creating an outfit on a budget.
Are you a bargain hunter? I come from a long line of bargain hunters. I remember when my mum would claim she had found a bargain if it was 30% off the original price. It didn’t really matter what the actual discounted price was. What mattered most was that she got 30% off! I heartily agree! And often use the same rationale on my husband. I am actually saving money when I buy things on sale!
Do you love a bargain too? Do you know where to look for affordable pieces? Some of the best outfits we’ve seen showcased on ‘What Should I Wear?’ are a clever mix of bargain buys, paired with investment pieces. My best bargain this year is a block striped T-shirt I picked up at Cotton On. Two strangers stopped me in the street the other day to compliment me and ask where to find it. It’s the best $20 I’ve spent on clothing recently.
What has been your best buy recently? Share your tips and photos with us! Post a photo of your bargain items or outfits under “Get Showcased” or “Get Styled” and write “bargain hunter” in the description. We’ll give you a cute “Bargain Hunter” badge on your profile to add to your style status!
Finally remember to tap in to the expertise of our Style Panel – Wendy, a new Melbourne-based blogger of Little Jimmys Girl, Mira the shoe queen of Glamazon Shoes and Loveena, the talented stylist from ‘Styled With Love’.
