Tweety, I think the back of these isnt so much a function of your bum/thighs...more the quality of the pants (fabric & the tension in the stitching - eg: see how they are rippling all the way up on the inner right leg? & the back zip is sewn icky....)....my guess is they are a microfibre/polyester...Events does alot of that....I think this is as wide as you can go & on a better quality pant, especially in a cool wool, would look terrfic (with minimal alterations)....dont give up on this width.V

I have hips, which get in the way of pants sometimes. I found that straight leg jeans are perfect and I found my ultimate pair of jeans at Just Jeans. They are from their range Curve ID and I bought them in a demi-curve. Fantastic and under $150! Go to www.justjeans.com.au for a look!

my understanding of the term straight leg is that the leg fits almost like a skinny jean down the leg, but instead of being so tight around the ankle, it tapers out a little bit. (but not as much as a bootcut)...

I actually thought these looked like straight pants.

Thanks ladies, will keep a lookout for straight leg pants or I'll just stick with skirts and dresses with leggings if all else fails. ; )

I agree.. Stick to straight legs.. A Much more flattering line. This style would swamp you and you might lose your shape, making your bottom half look stumpy.

Hi tweety, if you're a pear shape a straight/skinny leg would be a perfect option for you. The length of these combined with the wide leg concerns me a little, you said you are petite and I think these pants may have the potential to make your lower half appear shorter. That being said there are no rules for how you have to dress regardless of what shape category you fall into, perhaps you could try them on in store and have a play around with different tops and see how they look on.

I say nay. The back is terrible and I think they cling too much to the hips and thighs, I don't think the fabric drapes properly, which makes that area look even bigger. I'm a pear shape too and I used to wear wide leg pants until I discovered straight leg pants. Straight leg are far more flattering and lengthen and slim the legs, wide leg actually make your legs look bigger and shorter. Hope that helps

These pants are narrower than the ones I posted a while ago. Not sure if these are considered straight pants?
