Dear S, This jacket definitely best with a skirt for you. The top will probably need to be tucked in (maybe not if its dark or same colour as the skirt. Take a look at the origins of this type of jacket (Coco Chanel) you will see - jacket & slim skirt, or over slim dress - its not really a layering item - its part of a "suit" look. Tall, thin girls can carry off a boxy jacket with tight pants & a singlet worn untucked - but for the rest of us - keep it classic, elegant, flattering as poss. BX

Thanks ladies!! I'll try a flowy top and pencil skirt with opaques.

Great jacket! To really show it off, try an ivory or back silk blouse underneath and don't tuck it in. Pair it with dark inky-blue fitted jeans and simple shoes (the one's you're wearing are perfect). How about adding textured stocking-socks? Either black, crimson or cream. Match your bag with your shoes to complete the outfit, but don't be shy to have standout metal features on your bag, such as a fancy clasp, chain strap or chunky gold zipper.

A high-waisted pencil skirt would look fantastic with this jacket. For Winter you can try a black skirt and a shirt made of soft fabric to contrast against the tweed. A pair of high waisted slacks, heels and a knit would also look good for a more casual look.

be careful of blingy shoes as they will draw the eye downward & we want the eye to go upwards to your beautiful face...as far as sewing, for well constructed clothes, Burda is best for petites. If u were tall, Vogue is best. McCalls, Simplicity etc have very meh quality constructed patterns...V

Thanks Val, that's what I saw too but thought I was paranoid. ; ) Also, I haven't seen colourful straight pants anywhere in this part of the world. I am seriously considering making my own clothes as I can't find the right cut in the right colours. P.S maybe blingy shoes to draw the eyes away from the thigh/hip area??? Lol!!

Tweety - I say it with love, when I do the blink test on the longer top look, the first thing I notice is your hip/thigh area. I think it cos the jacket is so compact & the jeans are so skinny...so that darned problem area (for most women) stands out. Keep the contrast top (cobalt & magenta are magic colours on you) - but try a STRAIGHT LEG pant - the wider bottom of the legs will help balance out the compact-ness (is that a word?) of the top half......not a wide-leg tho - as u r too petite..Val

I love that jacket! Looks great with the longer top underneath, as has been said. Try it with a pencil skirt too.

Hi, love that jacket!! I also like the photo on the right, or even the top left. Looks good with a longer layer underneath and the skinny jeans. I think it would look super stylish with a pencil skirt and opaques, to really play up the Chanel look!

Hi Tweety, I like the look to the right (with the slightly longer blue top underneath) It's nice to play with proportions when wearing a crop jacket, so wearing a slightly longer top & a longer hanging necklace (as you have done) will help with that overall look of cohesion. I like it with these cords, i also think a pair of fitting black trousers or a sexy pencil skirt would be a winner with this jacket. Cute, very 'coco chanel chic' :)
