Color Problems
Can I wear my bright red sweater with lilac pants? I quite like the idea but my mom insists on only matching pastels with pastels (black and white excepted). Thoughts?
YES! ...and it looks amazing! I sell these umbrellas in that exact colour-way and they've nearly sold out: http://tinyurl.com/8wt3dqq Lilac will also look fantastic with navy, gold, charcoal, yellow, coral, dark green and bitter chocolate. Try mixing it up with a bold print top, which i think will be a striking contrast against your lilac pants. Stripes, spots, floral, geometric...
Yes its absolutely okay! Alot of stores are even bringing pieces out in those colours because colour blocking is huge right now :) I would suggest breaking all the bold colour up with some darker accessories and shoes.
I'm not sure on this one. It depends on the deepness of the lilac. A light lilac and bright red can look a little off but if it's a dark lilac and a rich bright red then they would look perfectly fine together.
Go for it!!! There is so much colour in stores at the moment and it's all about playing with colour combinations and having fun with it! I think it will look great!
I say go for it! It'd be very fun and liberating...and who knows - you might even convert your mum to colour blocking too ;)
You can do what ever you like (honestly) fashion is your own expression. Your mother sounds like my mothers, still stuck in the mind set of those old fashioned rules such as blue and green should never be seen and no white shoes unless you're a bride etc. res looks amazing with those red based colours (purples, pinks) and also turquoise and duck egg blue.
I just bought lilac pants last week - how fab are they!! I say go for it with the red, too much pastel will wash you out. Enjoy!
Yes you can. I've worn lavender pants with red shoes. Looks great. Don't listen to mum!
