Formal

I have my boyfriends year 12 formal coming up and i would rather buy a dress in store buut i am worried i wont be able to find anything in my price range. I'm hoping for something $100-$180, or less. Otherwise i am willing to take a chance online :) does anyone know any good websites they would recommend?

thankyou all so much! I'm kinda keen to avoid chain stores and i've actually found one online i really like. A few friends have got their dresses from there so fingers crossed my dress doesn't turn out dodgy! I am wondering though.. if i was to buy this dress and then take it to get a slit cut in it by a tailor is that possible? its just its a very plain and modest dress and i have good legs and i would like the slit so i at least have that extra bit of detail and am able to show some leg,

If you've got the time, you might find treasure on eBay (especially USA site, also AU) - will be plenty in your price-range. For online options, Americans really know how to do formal dresses, there's just such a huge range. Or to keep it local, try instore at MNG or Mango online: http://tinyurl.com/9oqhl62 I've added a few ideas here for you (click through the pics for the website): http://tinyurl.com/7um9xja

I bought my bridesmaid's dress from Gosh online, the quality was really great and there were so many unusual and unique styles for under $150.

Last one from me: also try topshop.com! They have a store in melbourne (and sydney maybe?) but the online stuff is better. I especially like the "brands at topshop" section.

Also, have you raided your girlfriend's wardrobes yet? I often had a friend's dress as a back up option in case I didn't find a dress in time! Then you can spend money on shoes instead! Just make sure you get the dress dry cleaned afterwards :)

Although I am a huge fan of forever new, I would try to avoid chain stores if it is a school formal as you might turn up in the same dress as 3 other girls (unless it's a small school? If you are from Melbourne I would recommend bridge street richmond, "rock" in church street brighton (dresses from about 80-350, great range), or green with envy in bentleigh. Good luck!

It's amazing what you can get on target.com, but you'll need a mail forwarder. Where are you from? It might help so the ladies can let you know where to go specifically.

http://www.forevernew.com.au/CategorisedProductListing.aspx?element=30&category=1&Keywords=Dress I'm loving forever new at the moment. Some really quite amazingly stunning dresses. Most formals are cocktail length dresses these days. Also try those cheaper boutiques that stock brands like reverse. You can usually find a cute dress for under $50 but a lot if these dresses are club wear so be mindful of that.

How formal is it? Because i remember my year 12 formal and it would be quite appropriate to wear a nice cocktail dress and amp up the formal from there with some gorgeous shoes and jewelry. If that could work you could easily pick up a dress from chain stores like Valleygirl or forever new (there are some truly beautiful dresses at forever new)! Hope this helps. Xx

Hi Shannon, try www.forever21.com , www.boohoo.com or even www.asos.com Surely you will find something reasonably priced from those 3. But I am positive you can still find something if you shop around your city ;) Enjoy the formal
