June Style Panel

Thank-you to everyone who entered our cashmere cardigan competition. Congratulations to Elicia Groves from W.A. who was the lucky winner! We are excited to bring you a new giveaway from the super stylish UberKate collection next week! Stay-tuned for details!

Each month we love bringing together a new Style Panel to offer professional input to us all at ‘What Should I Wear?’. This June we are delighted to have a stylist, a retailer and a blogger join in the fun!

Firstly we are delighted to introduce a new panelist, Brittney Moroko from sunny Queensland. Brittney is a fashion stylist and has her own brand new fashion blog 'Alexander and Jade'. Brittney’s blog is a great mix of style photos (with Brittney showcasing current looks) and also lots of images of fashion. Brittney tells us that she is extremely passionate about fashion and made the decision to start a career in styling because she believed in the importance of loving what you do. She says, “To me fashion is a form of expression and a way to present your personality to the world. I don't believe in being a slave to trends, what's important is finding what works best for you and your body shape. Coco Chanel said it best "fashion fades, only style remains the same" and I love being able to help people find and embrace their own personal style.”

We are so pleased to welcome back Katy Roach (the newly married MRS R!), creator of the Katy Potaty blog. Katy is well-known and loved at WSIW for her fun sense of humour, her fabulous style and her friendly nature. Katy sent us such a great description we couldn’t bear to edit it, so in her words... “I am a child of the 80′s, a teenager of the 90′s, and a retail worker of the Noughties. This explains my love of Jen Aniston’s hair, The Lion King, and the denim vest in my closet with which I cannot part. My work background is years of faithful retail service in high-street stores like French Connection and Witchery, interspersed with some business management, administration and education roles – this has given me a reasonably conservative wardrobe, filled with basics, I add accessories every season for a fresh, on-trend take on the latest looks. I've recently married my sweetheart relocated back to the Sunshine Coast where we met. I'm loving the relaxing life in a seaside town which thinks it's a big city - it means the shopping is pretty darn good here! I started blogging whilst working full-time in administration as both an outlet for some creative writing, and an offshoot of my small business, Katy Potaty’s Cupcakes. Not only does my blog provide you with delicious recipes for sweet treats, I also share a lot of fashion and beauty stuff that I love, have occasional giveaways of awesome beauty and cosmetics, and throw in a little general wittiness about life, travels, planning events, and cool little projects. If you’d like a little sweet inspiration and a peek into my life, you should check out my blog!”

Last but not least we are delighted to have Jasmine Gescheit return to our Style Panel. Jasmine was on our VERY first style panel when we launched! Since we last met Jasmine has not only celebrated her first year in retail business, but has also begun teaching at the renowned Whitehouse Institute of Design. Jasmine’s boutique, Casa Mimo (which she opened with her Mum last year), is situated on the buzzing Carlisle Street in Balaclava. Casa Mimo provides an eclectic mix of vintage and new clothing. Jasmine graduated from Whitehouse Institute of Design in 2010 obtaining a Bachelor of Design, Majoring in Fashion and winning the prestigious “Graduate Student of the Year’ award. She has worked for numerous fashion companies both locally and internationally and has gained an abundance of knowledge and experience by doing so.

We can’t wait to ask questions and share ideas with our June Style Panel on ‘What Should I Wear?’.

Finally, I just wanted to thank everyone for their amazing feedback in our survey last month and share some of the comments with you! We were so moved by your words about what you liked best about ‘What Should I Wear?’:

"It's like having friends who really want the best for you at your wardrobe at any time! My style has improved and found more direction since I found you!” “The thing I like the most is the lovely community, everyone is willing to give advice and it is very interactive. I also like the benefits of having an App!"

"I love that it allows an honest opinion for my choices and allows me to know what's in style and what's looking great in this season!"

"It's like a global mirror. You are able to check how things look and get opinions about what works!"

"You can go from a really boring outfit to a stunning one by using ‘What Should I Wear?’"

Thank-you so much for your kind words. We also appreciated the excellent suggestions for improvement and are working on lots of areas on the App and site. We’ve just rolled out our new mobile-friendly version of WSIW (to make it easier to use the site on your mobile, if you are not using your App), added clickable links on the site (coming to the App soon!) so you can click through to items others have recommended for you easily, and we are finalising a new homepage design that is more polished and showcases more of your fabulous photos and questions!
