Dust Off Your Ankle Boots
Do you read 'Shop Til You Drop'? Look out for us on p.142 in the June issue, where they tell everyone "share your selfie and the online community will yay or nay it instantly"!
The good news about the onset of cold weather is that it's time to dust off your boots! Today we are thrilled to have the lovely Katy from Katy Potaty share her tips on ankle boots. Over to Katy...
Ankle Boots. I never thought I would...!
Today I'm talking ankle boots. For such a long time, I avoided them like the plague, but it turns out I just didn't know how to wear them! They’re so darn adorable, but they can be hard to wear. They cut off your legs at the ankle (as you might have guessed), which can make you look shorter. The key to wearing ankle boots is elongating your legs as much as you can while still showing off the shape of the shoe.
I've decided that ankle boots can be worn almost any way you would wear regular old ballet flats or knee high boots in winter. They’re a great option for winter because they’re a little sturdier than flats and you get more coverage on your chilly feet, but they can be slightly more casual than knee high boots.
Be inspired by the gorgeous Lauren Conrad rocking tan ankle boots with jeans and a classic white shirt. I will absolutely be trying this. Absolutely.

More lovely fashion-y folk wearing ankle boots, this time Isabel Marant's Dicker boot. Left to right: Diane Kruger, Katie Holmes, Kate Bosworth.

If you don't feel like spending $900 on a pair of boots (and if not, why not?! jokes.) then check out Country Road, Witchery, French Connection and Diana Ferrari. All have great suede, chunky heel, ankle boots at the moment, and at a fraction of the price! I have the Country Road Brooklyn Boots in oyster, and oh my... the comfort and style!
----
Thanks Katy!
Remember that ankle boots are made to be seen! Don't hide them under your jeans. Wear them with skinny leg jeans, jeggings, leggings, tights and bare legs. Or roll the cuffs on your boyfriend jeans to reveal the boots. Pull them on with dresses, skirts and denim for any occasion. Add a heel for dressing it up, or a flat for running around town. Or step out in a metallic ankle boot for fun, like Alexa Chung!

We hope this gives you some new ideas for your ankle boots! Visit us at 'What Should I Wear?' if you've got questions, comments or style suggestions!

Member of the Month: Suzanne Chadwick
This week I am delighted to introduce the gorgeous Suzanne Chadwick, blogger of Stylise, as our Ms May! When you meet Suzanne in person you are struck by her style, her genuine warmth and bubbly personality. Suzanne juggles her career, her young family and life with great optimism and ambition. When they say surround yourself with positive people – they are talking about Suzanne! We hope our Q&A can share some ‘Suzie energy’ with you!

Over to Suzanne:
A little about me… I grew up in Melbourne and lived and worked in London for all of my 20's. By day I am the Global Digital & Sourcing Innovation Manager for a corporate organisation which I absolutely love and by night ...(when I get the chance) I am a fashion and lifestyle blogger for Stylise.
I am the mum of two little ones (1 & 2 year old) and wife to a gorgeous Welshman. I live dangerously close to Chadstone Shopping Centre where I retreat to recharge my batteries and indulge in all things fashion. I also don't mind a little mani and pedi on the side with a skinny latte to boot! I have just started Crossfit to try and get fit, healthy and toned....so we'll see how that goes!
A well-dressed woman... always has the perfect 'go to' outfit for an interview, date or black tie event.
A man should always... make you laugh....and have a great pair of dressy shoes with a gorgeous tailored cocktail shirt.
My style is inspired by... I adore Miroslava Duma for her super eclectic, bright colours and great statement necklaces, Nicole Richie for her boho glamour chic and Olivia Palmero for her mix and match of casual and high-end brands.
My favourite items in my wardrobe at the moment... A casual peplum top from French Connection that I recently bought on sale and getting back into my oversize knits now that weather is a little colder.
Favourite shops... who can go past ASOS and Country Road?
If I weren't doing what I'm doing today... I would travelling the world as a fashion buyer {I can but dream!}
My guilty pleasure is... Any cupcake factory cupcake with a fab Melbourne coffee..... soooo good!
If I had a magic wand I would...have access to my pick of designer wardrobes whenever I needed a new outfit....free of charge of course!
I am happiest when...I'm laying on a Thailand beach in the sun with a mango margarita in my hand and all the people I love around me!
My favourite style tip...dress jeans and a t-shirt up with a great blazer and statement necklace.
----
Thanks Suzanne! May your future be filled with many a mango margarita! :)

With one business under her belt, Kath has just launched a fun new fashion subscription business Her Fashion Box . 'Her Fashion Box' brings women a monthly fashion hit in the form of a bright pink box featuring an on-trend fashion accessory tailored to the subscriber's style profile along with beauty and lifestyle products. What a fun idea, I love a surprise packages in the mail! Kath has been featured in publications such as Vogue Australia, Glamour UK, SMH, Sydney Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Cleo, Ragtrader & Grazia to name a few. 'Her Fashion Box' has been labelled one of the hottest start-ups of 2013, so we are excited to have Kath join our panel to share her style tips with us!
Next we are thrilled to introduce Malena Permentier, the gorgeous 23 year old founder of fashion blog 'Fashion Container'. Malena moved to Perth last year from The Netherlands, to be with her boyfriend. ‘Fashion Container’ has been live for 1 year, yet is making waves in the fashion world already, with lots of collaborations and publicity (including Dutch magazine ‘Fashionista’ – wow!). Malena says, “I find it very hard to describe my personal style, but perhaps I could say it's pretty minimalistic. What I love about styling my outfits is looking for the right proportions, the perfect colour combos and to see what flatters my body most. I am a real accessory addict, I love a good statement necklace. I also have a huge obsession for jackets.” Malena’s street style shots are stunning and super inspiring – making affordable high street brands look luxuriously high end. Apart from her blog, Malena tells us that she’d love to work as a stylist and open her own online store in the future. We hope this happens soon – we’d love to be the beneficiaries of Malena’s fabulous fashion ideas!!
Finally we are delighted to introduce the stunning Ashley Rose, an ambitious and stylish 20-something year old retail manager. Living in the outskirts of Melbourne, Ashley Rose started her blog 'This Is Ashley Rose' in 2012 after wanting to create a visual diary, chronicling her daily style. ‘This is Ashley Rose’ is now a major player in the Australian plus size fashion blogging scene and hopes to bring "Fatshion" to a new level for all curvy women around the globe. Ashley Rose is also a contributing blogger to 'Skorch Magazine' and has been featured on publications such as 'Plus' model magazine, 'City Chic' blog, Grazia Magazine and Madison Plus. Ashley Rose has also worked with brands such as 17 Sundays, Big Shoe Zam, Very.com, Simply Be and Belle Curve, to name a few. Wow - what brilliant experience and knowledge Ashley Rose brings. How does she have time for her 'day job' too?! Ashley Rose tells us that she has “ambitions to bring the sketches in her head to life and model for her most beloved plus brands around the globe”. We love her style and her talent in showcasing fashion for curvy real women!

Today we drew the winner of the Uberfine comp! Congratulations to Jacque A., who chose a pipi shell and inner heart to keep her treasures (kids) close to her heart. A HUGE thank-you to everyone who entered and shared their special meanings they would attach to the symbols. We had so many heartfelt entries that we ended up using a random number generator to choose the winner. We could not decide and wish everyone could win! A big thank you to Uberfine for generously donating the giveaway and sharing their exciting new collection with us.
